FLOORTIME^TM

The goal of Floortime^TM at MPTA is to inspire the child to relate, communicate and think. Using techniques and strategies from Dr. Stanley Greenspan's DIR®/Floortime^TM model, we encourage the child to form positive relationships with their parents, siblings and peers. We begin by creating a safe, playful environment which supports the child's individual emotional, sensory and interactive levels of development. The child's intentionality becomes the guide for purposeful engagement as together we produce back-and-forth emotional signaling. This two-way communication serves as a foundation for creative use of ideas, social problem solving and logical thinking. Intensive parental education and support are provided to continue the relationship-building process within the home and other environments.
